Long ride on Seymour
I was itchin’ to get out for a long ride, so I decided to ride up Seymour Road from my house all the way to the Mushroom Trail parking lot. First time I’ve tried that route. Boy, it’s a long pedal. ![]()
I was pretty pooped and a little fed up by the time I reached the trail head, but it was definatey nice to be able to ride Corkscrew et al before dropping into Boogeyman. There’s some beautiful forest along Corkscrew and The Incline as you drop down to the Baden Powel trail. It was nice just to stop and admire the surroundings as I put on my armor. The ride itself was one of the oddest I’ve had on The Shore(tm). I landed a few drops, like the entrance to Boogeyman, smoother than I ever have. And I handled the run outs from the larger A-frames better than I ever have. But I felt like I was being bounced around a lot and felt downright sketchy for a lot of the ride.. Doubly weird considering the trail was probably as dry as I’ve ever seen it. It could be that I was tired from the climb, or that I have to adjust to the dryer, rockier conditions. I walked to the end of the large drop at the end of Boogeyman and it seemed larger than ever.. So a mixed bag of progression and regression today. The best conditions of the year definately didn’t turn out to be the confidence booster I was hoping for.
