The unabashed celebration of the bicycle
The journey begins. All packed up and ready to head down to the Sea Otter Classic bicycle festival tomorrow.
Rich: Wade, how are you guys getting down to Sea Otter?
Wade: Rocky gave us $600 to rent a motor home.
Rich: Cool. Where are you picking it up?
Wade: We haven’t rented one yet.
Rich: When are you driving down?
Wade: Wednesday.
Rich: pause You’re aware that today is Tuesday, right?
Oh how I wish I could be that laid back. We let the bikers go about their business assuming someone else would make things work, while Rich, Sterling and I worked out the last minute planning. Rich, Brian O, Jackie and myself are sharing a rented Chev Impala for the drive down. Wade, Dave, Thomas, and Sterling will be in the RV. We’ll see who gets stuck with the late night / early morning driving for the last stretch down to Monterey… 20 hours of straight driving. Ah, the joys of low budget travel. I just hope Brian popped into his local Budget and got setup as an additional driver.
