<description>As the beotch that took over your jumpstart, i can PERSONALLY vouch for the idiocy of the default solaris 9 install in comparison with a truely hardened OS install.

want to make yourself feel a little better install java and this crap. assuming all the java dependancies don't open you up to a million exploits.
http://wwws.sun.com/software/security/jass/

it didn't give me any additional warm fuzzy feeling..

Don't forget to add the encryption algorithms everyone on the planet should use, but doesn't add by default. http://wwws.sun.com/software/download/products/3e3af5a6.html

On the sun hardware side though , some of my last work there was an eval on the sunblade 1600. It was certainly a seksi bitch with internal redundant switch fabric, built in console server, and lots of remote admin options. But compared to the price of the IBM i386 blades, i just don't see too many people going for them.</description>

<description>Hey thanks for URLs man. I also noticed they have a "Sun Install Check Tool" now that I ran. It bitched about differeing boot and diag devices in OpenBoot. Even though the diag device was "disk" which in fact did point to the same raw device path as the boot device. Not that smart I guess. I'll check out the tools you mention, and good to hear from you Mourph!
