Tactile Pro keyboard
I used a Tactile Pro Keyboard from Matias Corporation today. Wow. It felt awesome. They use the ALPS mechanical keyswitches that Apple used in the original Apple Extended keyboard. I’d argue that it doesn’t feel as good as the patented buckling springs IBM used in the infamous M Series keyboards, but it’s damned close. The real plus compared to buying a used IBM M or one of the new ones that Unicomp is now selling of course is that the Tactile Pro looks great! It basically looks identical to the white and clear keyboard that comes with the iMac G4. Even has the two USB ports on the top.
If only someone would make a split keyboard with ALPS key switches I’d be eternally grateful…. And I’d probably buy 5 of them up front just to be sure I have a lifetime supply!
And just for the record, the Model M 1392394 is the best keyboard ever made. I’ve been trying to find one for about 4 years. One day I will own one. Oh yes. One day..
