Baby Charlie

Charlie Mayo Well, there’s a reason I haven’t blogged in 3 weeks! Announcing the birth of our beautiful little boy:

Charlie William Mayo
Born September 13th, 2004 at 3:00AM
Weighing in at 7 pounds, 12 ounces

Needless to say, I’m one very proud papa. There have been some hard nights, but overall he’s just a fantastic newborn. Sleeps and eats well, and mommy and baby are healthy and happy.

I’m back to work starting this Wednesday, and it’s going to be hard for both Amélie and I. Fortunately my Mom is flying in Tuesday night for a week which I think will really give is a leg up during the back to work transition. Naturally, my blog surfing & posting will be dramatically reduced for a while. And I can’t think of a better way to spend my time than holding my little baby boy.

Congrats. With his hands together in the picture, captions like “heee heeee what trouble will I get into now” come to mind. Glad to hear Mom, Baby and Dad are doing well…. and yeah, I was wondering where your blog went

Thanks guys! He’s definitely a little schemer, plotting how he’ll get revenge for those horrific diaper changes! Aside from a “fussy time” (ok, more like “screaming devil time”) that sometimes last like 4 hours in the night, he’s a real pleasure.

We came across the Charlie name back in February and both Am�lie and I immediately liked it (Am�lie spotted it in a french name book). For about 2 weeks I kept thinking I *must* know a Charlie, cause the name seemed so familiar! Eventually when my nightly cron job from Charlie Root arrived in my Inbox, it clicked and we had a good laugh. The Charlie Root familiarity endeared the name to me even more and we didn’t even consider another name for a boy after that.
