Storage blog?

I’m considering starting up a storage blog. There just don’t seem to be any out there, and in general I find that down-n-dirty reviews/opinions on today’s storage devices (SAN/NAS/whatever) are really hard to find. I’m pretty committed to doing it, and I think I could really put together something useful, especially for people entering the mass storage world for the first time. I have two things to figure out:

  1. Am I going to get in trouble from the vendors writing about equipment I have? Are there crazy agreements that have been signed during the purchasing phase restricting me from making a public statement about the gear?
  2. Should I place the articles on my current VMUNIX Blues blog, or perhaps startup a seperate, dedicated blog just for the storage stuff?

Feedback welcome.

I’m not particularly concerned about the first item, since I know I’ll likely ruffle a few feathers and that’s never stopped me from doing something in the past, and to be honest it’s breaking down this wall of secrecy around storage solutions that motivates me to do the storage blog in the first place. People shouldn’t have to be jumping head first into these big expensive storage solutions based purely on the marketing crud of the vendor. We don’t buy anything else in IT as blindly as we buy storage, IMHO. That has to stop.
