Hi Mark,

I had the very same thought about Storage and the then (back in 2004/2005) shortage of worth while material online that wasn't sponsored by a manufacturer somewhere trying to skew through marketing the market's take on what was real in storage.

So like you, I did something about it, I got off my arse, I started a blog, and it took off, then I began working with some industry names on a public wiki, which I've now split off a wiki of my own, building on what we then, and now we've got a leading wiki resource for all things storage ( well we like to think so anyway * grin * ).

We've now grown from an idea, to a network of:

http://TheStorageForum.COM

Forum portal
Blog
Wiki
Newsletter
Cross publication articles in print media
Product reviews

So I'm keen to see how you're going with your efforts, and perhaps you'd consider working together on some joint articles, reviews, opinion pieces perhaps? You have the workings of some great topics in once of the above postings:

SAN vs NAS
block vs file
scsi vs sata
ip/fc/rdma

I love the SAN vs NAS idea for example ;-)

Anyway, I'm blogging a couple of your pieces so hope I can drive some eyeballs back to you.

Cheers,

Dez

Yes I think this is a great idea. This will open up discussions on the benefits of one interface/disk/subsystem vs. other competing products/formats. keep me posted!

You should definitely do this. There is a total shortage of such blogs and would consequently be accepted with open arms.

I'd be interested in spending some advertising dollars with you to boot if you start this blog in the near term.

drop me a note and keep me posted.

thanks,
