The Problem With Aggregators
The problem with RSS aggregators is that when I take some time away from the computer, I now know *exactly* how much I missed while I was gone. For the last week or so NetNewsWire has been gently taunting me that I have over two thousand unread posts. I just didn’t have the nerve to hit “mark all read” and get on with my life. I mean, shit, WHAT IF SOMETHING IMPORTANT HAPPENED?!? Maybe there’s been a successor to Rails unveiled that will change the world!! God! I’d never know! Anyhow, it took a week, but I’ve finally caught up.
I did come to one conclusion, though. Scoble is right: If your feed is just headlines, I’ve unsubscribed. Headline-only feeds are a pain in the ass. So, Chris Pirillo’s stuff is gone, including a few lockergnome feeds, which is too bad. But really, I was rarely reading them anyways since they’re headline only.
