Kicking Television

Oh my. I just finished my first listen of Wilco’s new Kicking Television: Live in Chicago 2 CD set. Holy shit it’s good.

Wilco: KTV

How good? So good that I found myself clicking the headphones up another level on each of the first three songs. At that point, I was there in the crowd in Chicago enjoying every bit of the show. The vocals, the harmonies, the energy of the crowd and the performance. My god this is a rock band. And this is a absolutely breath taking recording.

Best live CD in a long, long time. Amost certainly the best bit of music I’ve listened to all year.

Side note: I pre-ordered my copy from Wilco’s website, and when it arrived I had to pay the government a $5 handling fee so they could collect $1.85 in GST. Jeesh.
