Fluid - A site specific browser
Came across a neat idea today in Fluid, an app for OS X that turns a website into what appears to be an “application”, so it gets an icon on the Dock, etc. I like this idea because it gets rid of the whole idea of where an “application” comes from and treats web apps as first class citizens. It also means a dedicated Safari instance/process, so I don’t have to worry about a rogue web site in a tab taking out my whole browser. Yes, I end up using more memory. No, I don’t care.

Simple, but effective. I like it.
For Windows/Linux Mozilla Lab’s Prism is pretty much the same deal, but a little less “native feeling”.
